China National Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) has recently made encouraging progress across Asia, Africa, and Latin America. By effectively combining "landmark projects" with "projects benefiting the people," CMEC is turning the Belt and Road Initiative into a pathway to prosperity, enabling the world to share in China's development opportunities.
Handover of the first section of the water supply project in Peru
The Lima Three Districts Water Project, undertaken by CMEC, has reached a major milestone. The first handover section — the 324-block drainage project — has successfully passed acceptance and was officially delivered to the client, accelerating the realization of the full water supply goal. As the largest livelihood project in Peru in recent years, it will provide stable and reliable sanitary water to over 400,000 low- and middle-income residents, generating significant social benefits.
The completed drainage system covers an area of one square kilometer, including household connection works for 4,579 households, construction of 423 new sewer manholes, and upgrades to both primary and secondary drainage pipelines. Once operational, the project will dramatically enhance wastewater treatment capacity in the region, fundamentally resolving the longstanding challenge of safe drinking water access for local households.
Groundbreaking ceremony for Chipata West Solar PV Project in Zambia
CMEC held the groundbreaking ceremony for the 75MW (AC) Chipata West Solar PV Power Project in Zambia's Eastern province. The project includes a 102.9MWp (DC side) solar power station, a 33kV/132kV step-up substation, and a 132kV transmission line.
This project represents a significant step toward the Zambian government's target of developing 1,000 MW of solar power. Once operational, the facility will help restructure the national energy mix and significantly alleviate the country's persistent power shortages caused by years of drought.
